Your Legal Rights as a Patient

    Free Emergency Care for All

NHS A&E treatment is free for everyone, including overseas visitors. This includes all treatment in A&E until you are admitted to a ward. Walk-in treatment for infectious diseases is also free.

    NHS Constitution Rights

The NHS Constitution establishes legal rights including: access to NHS services free of charge, treatment within maximum waiting times, access to approved treatments, confidentiality, and the right to complain.
